Do you see those amazing flower arrangements and wonder how they did that?
This is the same arrangement, looking down into it. See how densely packed the flowers are?
I bought a book on flower arranging. It gives instructions to create an arrangement like this.
First tape across the top of your container so you create a grid to hold the foliage in. Then fill up the vase with water mixed with flower food.

This is a closer look at the photo in the book.
The scotch tape keeps the flowers from settling into each other. It helps the arrangement hold a shape. It really works!
You will need some kind of pruning shears or scissors to trim the stems to the right length.
Pillow and Egg Cage Flower Arrangement Mechanics
These Cage Mechanics for flower arranging work the same way. They also add some shape.
These are from Holly Heider Chapple. They are two pieces of plastic grid that fit together to create a stabilizing form.
Create stunning floral arrangements and cascading centerpieces using the innovative Pillow mechanic from the Holly Chapple exclusively for Syndicate collection. The Pillow locks flowers in place, stem by stem, while you create gorgeous, airy arrangements.
There are two shapes. The pillow comes in 4″, 6″ and the 8″ sizes. The egg shaped one comes in 4″ and 6″. It can be used for complicated hand-held bouquets. Both are made of durable, reusable plastic.
The “pillow” and the “egg” mechanics created by Holly Chapple, allow you to create wispy and airy designs that really highlight your focal flowers and allow you to create unique pieces with strong mechanics.
There are two layers grid to keep your stems where you put them.
It works with natural flowers or silk or paper stems. You can use two or more to fill large containers.
Once you have the shape, continue to fill in with more flowers.
The framework holds the flowers securely in place. It can be used over and over to make amazing-looking arrangements.
This shows a very simple arrangement using the pillow and just roses in a clear glass compote. The pillow creates the shape and holds the roses.
Even in clear glass, the framework of the pillow cage virtually disappears.
This is another arrangement using the pillow to hold a variety of colors and shapes.
The two layers of the grid hold this arrangement securely, even though the flowers are relatively heavy.

Stretch Flower Arranging Cap
This inexpensive cap can stretch over any lid up to 5″ wide.
It doesn’t have the two layers of the Holly Pillow or Egg, but the Budable Stretch Flower Arranging Caps will hold the stems as you arrange them and keep them in place.
Porcelain Floral Arrangers
The Budable Stretch Flower Arranging Caps and the Holly Heider Chapple Pillow and Egg Floral Mechanics work like floral arrangers that have been around for a very long time.
Floral arrangers have holes in them to put each stem in.
This gives an idea of what you can do with a floral arranger. The stems are cut to length.
This is a more formal way to use a floral arranger. This one is three pieces that can be used together or individually.
