How do they make those lavish flower arrangements?

I bought a book on flower arranging. It gives instructions to create an arrangement like this.

First tape across the top of your container so you create a grid to hold the foliage in. Then fill up the vase with water mixed with flower food.

The scotch tape keeps the flowers from settling into each other. It helps the arrangement hold a shape. It really works!

You will need some kind of pruning shears or scissors to trim the stems to the right length.

This shows a very simple arrangement using the pillow and just roses in a clear glass compote. The pillow creates the shape and holds the roses.

Even in clear glass, the framework of the pillow cage virtually disappears.

This is another arrangement using the pillow to hold a variety of colors and shapes.

The two layers of the grid hold this arrangement securely, even though the flowers are relatively heavy.

 Stretch Flower Arranging Cap

This inexpensive cap can stretch over any lid up to 5″ wide.
