Blue Willow Wallpaper, Fabric and More from Roostery and Spoonflower

I have been looking at wallpaper for the bathroom in our new house.

I am sorta down to two different patterns. Similar, but VERY different. Actually, two patterns plus a lot of  additional color choices.

Chinoiserie by Barbara Pixton from Roostery and Spoonflower

Chinoiserie by Barbara Pixton is exactly what I had in mind. It picks up the blues and adds some green.

You can get everything to go with it. If I don’t put this in the bathroom, I may choose it for my table. I really love it!

I like the ecru background. If you use a white background in a white bathroom, one white is always whiter than the other. So one white always looks dingy. The ecru background will make white look whiter.

Cloud Pagoda by Danika Herrick

I absolutely LOVE Cloud Pagoda by Danika Herrick. It came up in my search and I keep going back to it. It is just so much fun.

I was at first only considering the versions in blues. There are three different blue options. There is one in various shades of blue, Cloud Pagoda in Blues. One in brilliant cobalt with the pattern in white. The name is Pagoda Cloud Fretwork. They also have it reversed. The pattern is in cobalt with the background in white, called Cloud Pagoda Cobalt.

But look at this! Cloud Pagoda in Vibrant.  Not at all what I was thinking, but I really love it!

Chinoiserie by Barbara Pixton probably goes with my very traditional home better, though. It would be better flow.

Isobar Wallpaper

The Roostery website says that Isobar Wallpaper has a “subtly leathered texture and low-sheen finish.” It sounds like the better quality Sanitas I used to hang. (I was a wallpaper hanger for about 20 years.)

The website says that it is mold, mildew, and water resistance and will stand up to scrubbing. “Each wallpaper pattern is designed by independent designers, from around the world, and printed in the USA.”

It looks like this wallpaper is not pre-trimmed. So, choose your paperhanger accordingly. Some won’t hang this stuff. Some paperhangers trim on the table, then butt the seams. I prefer to free trim on the wall. I overlap the edges, cut through both with a very sharp razor knife, then when you pull off the two cut edges, the seam lays perfectly together. Because it is not a straight seam, the edges are less visible on the wall.

Roostery and Spoonflower

Spoonflower was the first web company for custom, on-demand fabric printing. Roostery sells made-on-demand home décor using this fabric.

Spoonflower was founded May 2008 in Durham, N.C. to provide an internet platform for artists to design custom fabric for home décor.  They put together a program that lets individual artists design and produce individual on-demand, custom-designed textiles.

You can buy fabric or things made from fabric like curtains, bedding, table cloths and napkins. They also have wallpaper printed with the same designs on both Roostery and Spoonflower.

Spoonflower uses a digital print process with eco-friendly, water-based pigment inks and dyes. They use large-format inkjet printers modified for textile. This shows greater detail and allows more colors than traditional screen printing.

All Spoonflower fabric is printed in Durham, North Carolina or in Berlin, Germany.

You select from the plethora of designs, decide what you want, and it is made, just for you. You can have anything, table linens, bedding or wallpaper, custom made. And you are directly supporting the artists who designed the pattern and crafted your purchase.
