Blue and White Porcelain Pagoda Ginger Jars

These ginger jars are shaped like little pagodas made of porcelain with cobalt blue painting under clear glaze.

I have seen them in two sizes. Usually they are small, 8-inches high. But I have seen them larger, 16-inches high. You can also find them turned into table lamps.

The shape is nearly identical every time I have seen them, but the transfer and painting is usually different.

The cobalt is applied in hand-painting and typical export ware transfer patterns.

The lid comes off.

Most have a lid that fits over the jar.

But sometimes the lid fits into the jar, like this one.

There are a lot of different landscapes available. And every one I have seen has a different picture on each side.

You can also find them on eBay. Sometimes these are a good deal.

Blue and White Pagoda Table Lamps

You can find these jars made into lamps on eBay and Etsy.

The little pagoda ginger jar has a hole drilled in it to hold the lamp parts.

I’ve seen these in different sizes, too. Usually they are small, but others have been made from the larger pagoda jar to make a lamp large enough to use in my living room.
