Chinoiserie from Foam & Fabric Outlet

Foam & Fabric Outlet is a fabric store not far from my house. I didn’t find exactly what I was looking for, but I will share some fun choices I found.

Foam and Fabric Outlet is in Fletcher, halfway between Asheville and Hendersonville on US25. They sell craft fabric, patterns and some dressmaking fabric. They have a huge selection of buttons and trims, some really cheap loose in bins that you have to match up. There are also bins of inexpensive sewing supplies like, cards of sewing machine needles and spools of thread for a dollar. They sell large spools for sergers for $3.00.

They have a huge supply of upholstery and drapery fabric. Tables start at $3.00 a yard. The tail ends from bolts are stacked and priced. And they have lots and lots of bolts on racks. They also have foam that they will cut for you and every other thing you need to reupholster or slipcover furniture or make professional drapes. And they really are priced better than I’ve seen elsewhere.

They also have outdoor fabric, plastic sheets and leather hides. And dog beds for some reason.

They also have bins that sell bedding by the pound. There is always something, but if you hit it right you can get some better brands. I bought a Tommy Hilfiger once. I’m drawing a blank on other recognizable brands right now.

This is from Home Accent Fabrics. The pattern is called Dragon Lady. It is a Ronnie Gold Design in Royal Blue.

This Indoor/Outdoor fabric is from P Kaufmann Fabrics. It has red pagodas on off-white canvas.

This linen fabric is one of the Chinoiserie fabrics from Regal Fabrics. It is called Dragon Boat. It is available in other color ways. This one is called Mineral. Coordinating stripes and solids are available in Mineral.

The fabric has a traditional Asian chinoiserie design with dragon boats.

Long, narrow dragon boats have distinctive a dragon head and tail. They are used in the sport of dragon boat racing.

The print also has trees, pagodas and bridges between islands

The mineral color palette combines green and blue tones with shades of brown.

The linen fabric has a lot of texture.

This is the Blue Green color version.

This fabric from Richloom has a stylized Teahouse Chinoiserie print.

The toile is printed on a linen blend, 55% linen and 45% rayon. 

The print has yellow and black pagodas, medallions, and floral trees on a natural linen cream background.

There are other color variations available. The yellow version is the only one at Foam & Fabric Outlet.

It is a simple exotic Asian pattern with medallions and pagodas and floral and tree motifs in yellow and black on the ivory background.

This one is Neo Toile by Robert Allen Design in Zen Emerald. This might be a more Japanese style print.

It is an Asian motif on slubbed linen blend.

The houses have a porch. They fabric has trees, boats, and birds.

The boat with a covered roof looks like a traditional Japanese yakata-bune boat. Cranes are taking flight.

Cherry trees add a splash of red to the print.

This fun variation on Blue Willow is from Waverly Fabrics. It was designed by Genevieve Gorder.
