Canopies are available in Chrome or White. They include a miniature recessed can.

The basic fixture consists of miniature can for a 2 3/4″ canopy  with a socket for a 12 or 24volt, 20 watt xenon (not halogen) lamp.

Canopies require a 2 3/8″ cutout and remote transformer. Several can be wired from a single transformer.

The crystal shades fit over the lamp and are held in place by a spring band on the socket.

Overview from WAC
Intended for use in ceilings, cabinets and displays. Fixtures use a Xenon (not tungsten halogen) 12V bi-pin lamp 20 watts maximum (24V lamp may be used with 24 volt power supply). Recessed wiring compartment contains a standard size knock out hole that will accept BX or Romex clamps. Fixture is held in place by spring tension against the cut out hole.
Installing fixture:
  1. Run a wire from a remote transformer to the fixture site (use 12 or 24 volt listed transformer, not supplied).
  2. Cut a 2 3/8” diameter opening on the mounting surface.
  3. Bring the wire through the hole.
  4. Loosen the two screws on either side of can to remove and access the socket wires.
  5. Remove the knock out in the can and install the appropriate wire clamp.
  6. Connect “output” wires from the transformer to the socket wires with wire nuts provided.
  7. Tuck wires under the can and re install with the two screws removed earlier.
  8. Compress the leaf springs on either side of the housing and insert into the cut out hole.
Installing Lamp & Shade:
  1. Use a Xenon (not tungsten halogen) lamp 12 or 24 V (depending on power supply) 20 watts maximum (included).
  2. Align lamp pins with holes in the socket and gently push in.
  3. Shades will fit over the lamp and are held in space by a spring band at the base of the socket, simply push on or pull off.
  4. Shades sold separately. Use shades from the “DR” series.

WAC Lighting’s new decorative low profile sconces with glass shades boast a truly exclusive look with exceptional quality. Each sconce canopy is designed with timeless style and plated in Chrome and Brushed Nickel finishes.

Even in the smallest bathroom or powder room, good lighting and good switches and dimmers make all the difference! Once you have light control in your bathroom, you will wonder how you ever lived without it.

Have one switch for ceiling lighting, whether it is recessed lighting or a ceiling fixture. Have the mirror lighting on a separate switch with a dimmer. I use it at the lowest setting to enjoy a relaxing bath or when I get up at night or first get up until I am ready for the morning.

Wall sconces on either side of a mirror or medicine cabinet provide both decorative and task lighting.

“Stick to a style and finish that is compatible with the other elements in the room. Coodinate the style of the sconces near the vanity with that of the cabinet, for example.”

Bathrooms: The Smart Approach to Design by the Editors of Creative Homeowner, Home Decorating

The best light for applying makeup is shed from the sides of a mirror. The best for shaving is from above. In both cases, there are many ways to do this effectively. Plan your bath lighting for how you will be using the bathroom. And don’t forget that the right switches and dimmers make all the difference!

“Wall-mounted light sconces are a good way to provide adequate lighting without overwhelming a small space, so they’re a good choice in a powder room.”

What Size Should My Chandelier Be?

When choosing your chandelier, scale matters a lot. There are a lot of factors to think about, but here is an easy way to calculate the best size for your dining room.

The first guideline is:

  1. Measure your table.
  2. Divide that number in half.
  3. That’s your smallest chandelier width.
So, a 48″ table gets a 24″ or more chandelier.

If your table is heavier or darker, either choose a heavier, darker or larger chandelier.

If your table is lighter in scale, plexiglass or glass or low contrast (the same color as the rest of the room); choose a chandelier that matches the scale and feel of the table or go with a smaller chandelier or pendant.

If your table is rectangular, what is your perspective as you walk into the room? If you are looking at your table from the narrow end, that is your measurement. If you are looking at your table from the wide side, that is your measurement.
You might want to us an oval chandelier or two chandeliers or pendants.

It can be hand twisted to fit your home.

Here is the second guideline:

  1. Measure your room.
  2. Add the length and width together.
  3. The total in feet is your chandelier width in inches.
    So a 14′ x 18′ room gets a 32″ or so chandelier.

Since your dining table usually fits the dimensions of your room, you should get a similar number using both methods. If your chandelier is not in the center of the room, or if it is in an area of a larger open floor plan, you might want to measure from the outlet box to the closest wall, then double that to get your measurements. So if your chandelier will hang 5 feet from the closest wall on one side and 6 feet from the closest wall on the other side, (5+6) x 2 = 22. A 22″ chandelier should fit the scale of the area. The table will likely be smaller, too.

“A chandelier that’s not big enough can make a room feel smaller. A good guideline: Measure the room’s length and width, and add those together. Then use that number for the diameter, substituting ‘inches’ for ‘feet.’ So if your room is 10 feet by 18 feet, you should look for a chandelier with a diameter of at least 28 inches.”
HGTV Design Star judge Vern Yip, HGTV Magazine

“Determine the right scale. A too-big chandelier will make a small room look even smaller, while a tiny fixture will disappear in a big room. Add your room’s length and width in feet and get a fixture whose width is the same number of inches (a 12′ x 16′ room gets a 28″ light), advises Jeff Dross of Kichler Lighting. Another useful guideline: A chandelier should be at least half the table width (so it won’t look puny). If your ceilings are higher than the standard 8 feet, go for a taller fixture; if your dining area is part of a great room, go even larger.”

Where to Position Recessed Lighting

WAC HR-LED421-WT/WT LEDme Downlights

WAC HR-LED421-WT/WT LEDme Downlights 4 inch LED Recessed Downlights light a contemporary bathroom.

Recessed lighting is an excellent choice for lighting that can work with any interior. Because you see the effects of the lighting, without seeing the fixtures, recessed lighting is an investment that continues to work as your taste and style evolve.

Some people think of them as boring, but used effectively these lights can create a sense of drama by leaving the ceiling and upper walls dark while providing direct light.

If you include recessed lighting in your lighting plan, you have fewer limitations on other lighting. You can create a mood with a lower light chandelier or pendant, but still have enough light when you need it.

Install your recessed lighting closer to the center of the room’s ceiling to light only the floor.

If you install your recessed lights closer to the walls, the light grazes the walls creating a dramatic effect.

Are your walls textured? Recessed lighting closer to the walls allow the light to graze, bringing out the texture.

Used further from the wall visually flattens the texture.
